College Students Don’t See Danger of Abusing ADHD Drugs
University of Kentucky professor Alan DeSantis heard lines like the following this from countless students when conducting research for a book about Greek life several years ago: “I don’t use drugs. I use Adderall, but I don’t use drugs.” The students may not have realized it at the time, but they triggered his research into the prevalence of non-prescription use of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medications on campus today.

Researchers Suggest Ritalin May Have Impact on Brain Similar to Cocaine
Dealing with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder can be a challenge for any individual and his or her family. Now, new research suggests that the very medication designed to treat the disorder may have lasting implications on the brain.
According to a recent release in Science Daily, research from The Rockefeller University demonstrates that methylphenidate, otherwise known as Ritalin, could change the brain in the same ways that cocaine does. Continue Reading
